The home of Wasps Rugby Club has forged a partnership with Gett, the on-demand black cab app, for those attending live sport and music, conferences, exhibitions and meetings.

Gett has a presence in more than 100 cities globally. In London alone, nearly half of all black cabs are on the app. Gett black cabs are now available in Coventry at a tap of a button. The app allows users to pre-book taxis with real-time tracking on their smart phone.

Nick Eastwood, CEO of Wasps and the Ricoh Arena, said: “When it comes to stadium experiences, this is a partnership that has real benefit to all our customers and visitors.

“We are striving to make the Ricoh Arena a first-class meetings and events venue for the modern age, and our relationships with partners such as Gett and our ultra-fast Wi-Fi providers CityFibre and Ericsson are key to helping us to achieve that.

“Being able to book, pre-pay and track the whereabouts of your own taxi at the click of a button while at an event is the height of travel convenience, and we think this will prove really popular with the one million plus people that come through our doors every year.

“Gett is a really exciting and forward thinking company to be working with, and we look forward to evolving our relationship over the coming years.”

James Cowen, business development manager for Gett, believes technology has changed the way people plan their journeys to events for the better.

He added: “Premiership rugby, especially at Wasps, can be very dramatic but nobody visiting the Ricoh Arena wants any drama when they’re trying to arrive on time for kick off or leave  at the end of the game. That’s why we’re so pleased to be able to offer fans a quick, easy and safe way to get to and from the Ricoh Arena with just a few taps on a smartphone.

"This is the first time that Gett has been involved in rugby, so it’s particularly exciting to partner with Wasps - one of the very best teams in Europe."
