Over 600 guests travelled from all over the world to attend the 100th wedding reception at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
Amrit Sandhu and Surinder Teja held a religious ceremony at the Cross Road Gurdwara in Foleshill in the city before heading to the Ricoh Arena for an afternoon reception. The guest list included Mike McGinnity from Coventry City and the Sky Blues associate directors along with family and friends who travelled from Canada, America and India as well as throughout the UK. The couple then flew to Mauritius for a civil ceremony and honeymoon. Amrit, who works at National Grid in Warwick, said it had been a day to remember for her and her new husband, Surinder, who is aged 27 and works at Lexis Nexis in Leeds. “It was wonderful that we were able to have our family and friends with us on our special day,” said the 28-year-old, who lives in Gibbet Hill, Coventry. “When you are planning a wedding reception of this size there were not too many venues in the region that could accommodate our needs but the Ricoh Arena met all our requirements. “I have watched matches here with my dad, who is an associate director, and as well as being the only venue that could meet our all requirements, it is a fantastic place. “We were delighted to be the 100th couple to have our wedding reception there and we have some superb memories.” Julie Graham, head of sales at the Ricoh Arena, said the E.ON Lounge was an ideal location for weddings and banquets for up to 800 guests. “We are becoming increasingly popular as a wedding venue for ceremonies and receptions however large or small,” she said. “It was great to see so many people joining in Amrit’s and Surinder’s celebrations and everyone seemed to be having a thoroughly good time.” PICTURE CAPTION: From the left, bride Amrit Sandhu, bridegroom Surinder Teja, Natalie Watts (Ricoh Arena), Mike McGinnity (Coventry City President) and Jas Sandhu (the bride’s father and associate director at Coventry City) at the Ricoh Arena |
