Coventry radio station Mercia is the new official radio partner of the Ricoh Arena.
The Hertford Place-based station has linked up with the £113 million venue ahead of the start of Coventry City’s new season. The five-year agreement means Mercia will take over the scoreboard advertising, have their logo included on the Partners Wall inside the main entrance to the Ricoh and in the Sky Blues match programme and will give tickets away as prizes before every Coventry City match. Dave Fisher, managing director of Mercia, said the official link-up was a natural progression. “We have been working with the Ricoh Arena since it opened because we co-promoted the first Bon Jovi concert, launched Coventry City’s new kit last August and heavily promoted The Enemy gigs in April,” he said. “We are really pleased to be the Ricoh’s official radio station and our listeners know that we will bring them all the breaking news from one of the leading businesses in the city. “Our figures show that we continue to be Coventry and Warwickshire’s most listened-to local radio station and I am sure that we will go from strength to strength following our official link-up with the Ricoh.” Liz Cooper, marketing director at the Ricoh Arena, said she was delighted Mercia was strengthening their partnership with the venue. “It is fantastic news that we will be working with Mercia on a more formal basis because they have covered the Ricoh extensively since the very beginning,” she said. “We are pleased to have Mercia’s backing as the Sky Blues launch their new campaign and supporters will continue to have the chance to win tickets to watch Chris Coleman’s team in action. “Mercia prides itself on being at the heart of the community in Coventry and so does the Ricoh.” PICTURE CAPTION: Liz Cooper from the Ricoh Arena with Mercia DJ Richard Neale |
