Around 4,000 Britain’s Got Talent fans sung, shouted and screamed as the UK Live Tour stopped off at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
DJ Talent bounced on to the stage to start the show before Stephen Mulhern, host of the ITV follow-up show Britain’s Got More Talent, introduced each act. Fans of all ages packed into the Jaguar Exhibition Hall to see all the ten finalists perform their acts. The crowd sang happy birthday to Sallie Lax from 2 Grand who was celebrating her 13th birthday while the show’s runner-up Susan Boyle was given the first standing ovation of the night. George Sampson, winner of the 2008 show, performed with Flawless while Diversity ended the night with their series winning act from the Britain’s Got Talent final which was watched by 19 million viewers. George told the crowd: “This is a brilliant crowd and I’m having an amazing time.” Daniel Gidney, chief executive of the Ricoh Arena, said there was no doubt that the show was extremely popular. “The atmosphere inside the Jaguar Exhibition Hall was superb – it has never been so noisy,” he said. “It was fantastic to see 4,000 pairs of hands swaying in the air. “The universal appeal of Britain’s Got Talent was obvious from the wide range ages of the audience. “Everyone seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves – both the audience and the acts. “We were delighted to bring the Live UK tour to the Ricoh and to sell 4,000 tickets in a very short period of time. I am sure the rest of the tour will continue to be a great success.” PICTURE CAPTION: Diversity in action during the Britain's Got Talent UK Live Tour at the Ricoh Arena |
