Flower show celebrates 50th anniversary in style |

AROUND 20,000 members of the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies celebrated its golden anniversary in style at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
The three-day national show was packed with over 500 floral exhibits, floral demonstrations, a shopping mall, demonstrations and talks. Margaret Marriott, the National Shows Publicity Officer, said the 50th year of the NAFAS had been marked in the best possible fashion. “We have had a wonderful time,” she said. “In total we had around 20,000 members attend. “This is the crème de la crème of the flower world. We are always looking for newcomers because floral art is not about little old ladies doing floral displays because some of them are like paintings. “We held a gala dinner on Friday night for 800 people to mark our golden anniversary and everyone wore gold and black. The flower arrangements on the tables were a sight to behold. “This is the first time we have been to the Ricoh Arena and our members have been extremely impressed with the venue and the helpfulness of the staff. “We wanted to celebrate 50 years of flower arranging in style and we certainly did that.” PICTURE CAPTION: Margaret Marriott at the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies’ 50th anniversary show at the Ricoh Arena |
