The all-round skills needed for the position on the rugby field will be replicated by Richard Shacklock in his role as event planner.
The 22-year-old, who lives in Warwick, was previously part of the operations and events team at Warwick Castle and his versatility will be needed as he becomes involved in planning a wide range of events at the multi-purpose Ricoh Arena. As well as playing rugby for Coventry-based Trinity Guild, Warwickians and Hewell Vikings, he is also a climbing instructor at the University of Warwick where he teaches school groups but he is determined to keep his feet on the ground as he embarks on the next stage of his career. Richard said: “There is huge potential being part of Team Ricoh. The size of the Ricoh means there is a busy programme of events, conferences and exhibitions throughout the year. “I am looking forward to being part of the process to ensure each event is a success because there is so much enormous scope when you consider that the Jaguar Exhibition Hall can accommodate up to 8,000 people. “I will have responsibility for looking after events varying from conferences and hospitality to large exhibitions and events. “Everybody working here has been really friendly and I hope the Ricoh stages some more high-profile rugby matches soon!” PICTURE CAPTION: Richard Shacklock, the new event planner at the Ricoh Arena |
