Specialised nursing conference heads to the Ricoh for first time
A specialised nursing organisation will attract over 500 delegates to its annual conference at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

The World Council of Enterostomal Therapists (WCET) UK is holding a three-day event in the Jaguar Exhibition Hall from Wednesday, September 30 until Friday, October 2.

Specialist nurses who are involved in caring for people who have had surgery for formation of a stoma will hear talks from leading experts in the field while there will also be exhibitions featuring the latest products.

The charity will also hold a gala dinner with Las Vegas style entertainment when the winner of the 2009 Stoma Care Nurse will be announced.

Alison Crawshaw, chair of the WCET UK, said around 100,000 adults and children in the UK live with a stoma.

“We are looking forward to coming to the Ricoh Arena for the first time for our annual conference,” she said.

“This is an important sector of the health care profession and since advances are taking place all the time, it is a great opportunity for nurses to come together to find out about the latest information and products.

“It is all geared towards ensuring our patients have the best possible care.”

Dominic Fleming, from the Ricoh Arena, said the venue was continuing to attract UK-wide conferences and exhibitions because of its location and state-of-the-art facilities.

He said: “This is a perfect location for delegates that are travelling from different parts of the country particularly since we are ideally located near the M6.

“I am sure the conference and exhibition will give delegates the chance to network and hear speeches from experts in this field as well as have a fun time at a three-course dinner.”
