Ricoh hotel signed up by Coventry Blaze

Coventry Blaze have completed their latest deal of the new season – with a leading hotel.

The Blaze has started a partnership with 71 Rooms and Silks Suites Hotel, at the Ricoh Arena, which will see the pair work together commercially.

The hotel has set-up advertising boards at the Blaze’s arena, the Skydome, and will now handle accommodation for opposition teams including the Belfast Giants, Newcastle Vipers and Edinburgh Capitals.

Angus Houston, of 71 Rooms and Silk Suites, said: “Coventry Blaze are one of British Ice Hockey’s leading teams and we are thrilled to start this relationship with them.

“We think this can be a mutually beneficial arrangement. For instance, we will be able to offer discounted ticket and accommodation deals to travelling supporters.

“It will hopefully attract more fans to the Skydome and Coventry, and make sure their visit to the city is a positive one – even if the Blaze win!”

A typical visiting team is expected to take up around 12 rooms at the hotel – but high-profile clashes could see clubs and their fans take up half of the hotel.

James Pease, general manager of Coventry Blaze, said: “We are always looking to find new partners in the business community and 71 Rooms and Silk Suites is based at one of Coventry’s best known locations.

“We are one of the top teams in Britain on the ice, and we are working to make sure that is true off it too. This is our latest partnership and one we are confident will be a success.

“So we’re pleased our visitors will get a comfortable night’s sleep – because we’ll be aiming to give them a pretty uncomfortable 60 minutes earlier in the evening!”
