 P!nk fans were green with envy when Diane Pink bought her tickets for the superstar’s concert at the Ricoh Arena.
The mum-of-four was queuing with her sister-in-law Ann Hill – a former Pink before marriage – to buy two tickets for P!nk’s Funhouse Summer Carnival Tour which is stopping off in Coventry on Thursday, June 24. When Ricoh Arena chief executive Daniel Gidney found out that Mrs Pink was in the queue he singled her out for star treatment. Diane, who lives in Tile Hill, was buying the tickets for her daughters, 18-year-old Jade, who is studying criminology and forensic science at the University of Leicester, and 19-year-old Victoria, who is taking a Japanese and European Business degree at Liverpool John Moores University. “Jade is a big fan of P!nk,” said 51-year-old Diane. “She has all her CDs but she has never seen her in concert before so she can’t wait. “Pink is an unusual surname. People often spell it wrong because they put an ‘s’ on the end. They never used to do that when I was a Brown!” Diane, who carries out blood tests in the community, also has two sons, 30-year-old Gary, who works in recruitment, and 27-year-old Russell, who is a car paint sprayer. Daniel Gidney added: “It was a pleasure to meet Mrs Pink and I hope her two daughters have a great time at the concert. “We served bacon rolls and coffee to everyone who came along to queue for tickets on Monday morning. “We have been delighted with the response so far to the tickets going on sale and there is no doubt that P!nk has a dedicated group of fans in the Midlands.” Tickets priced at £45, which are subject to a booking fee, are now on sale for standing and reserved seating.
