Daniel Gidney meets.. Daniel Gidney

UNTIL a few months ago, the chief executive of the Ricoh Arena in Coventry wasn’t aware he had a namesake working for Ricoh UK.

The ‘other’ Daniel Gidney is one of a team of Ricoh UK area operations managers and occasionally travels to the city to check everything is working smoothly at the print centre at the multi-purpose venue.

And the kookiness continues since both men are also twins.

Daniel, aged 35, from Ricoh UK said: “I had heard there was another Daniel Gidney but when I was talked into Googling myself, I didn’t get any results for me and there were loads for the other Daniel Gidney.

“I hadn’t had the opportunity to meet him until recently and it was a bit strange but nothing out of the ordinary.

“The stranger thing is that we are both twins as well. My twin is called Graham and he is the dispatch and systems manager for a processing company.”

Daniel, whose twin Jonathan is a successful barrister in Birmingham, has been chief executive at the Ricoh Arena since 2006 and his internet search ranking is high after he has spearheaded bringing a host of high-profile sporting, music and business events to the venue.

“It does seem strange that there is someone with an identical name working for Ricoh UK since the Ricoh has the naming rights at the venue and has offices here as well,” he said.

“We had a good chat about our similarities and I promised to continue sending him the occasional emails that I receive which are meant for him!”
