Hoosiers to play invite only gig at Mercia Live Level

THE Hoosiers will be performing an invitation-only gig at the Mercia Live Level at the Ricoh Arena next month.

The trio of Irwin Sparkes, Martin Skarendahl and Alphonso Sharland will be playing their new single Bumpy Ride on Thursday, March 3.

The private concert, for competition winners and guests of Mercia, will also hear the band’s greatest hits performed by Irwin (lead vocalist and lead guitar), Martin (bass guitar and rhythm guitar) and Alphonso (drums and percussion).

‘Worried about Ray’ – which was the band’s first single – reached number five in the UK single charts in 2007 while their debut album The Trick to Life rocketed to the top of the charts. Their second top ten album ‘The Illusion of Safety’ was released last year following their single ‘Choices’.

Justine Hewitt, events manager at the Ricoh Arena, said this was the first invitation-only gig to be held at the Mercia Live Level.

She said: “The energetic sound of The Hoosiers is certain to be reverberating around the great acoustics inside the Mercia Live Level.

“They are different to normal indie pop bands which is why they have such a devoted set of fans and this is certain to be a great night.”

Paul Fairburn, managing director of Mercia, added “We’re delighted to be bringing this great live band to the Mercia Live Level at the Ricoh Arena. It will be a fantastic night and hopefully they will be one of many top artists to perform there.”
