Leading show in UK's lifting industry

The leading show in the UK’s lifting industry will be reaching new heights at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

LiftEx 2012 is sold out in the Jaguar Exhibition Hall on Thursday, November 29, and Friday, November 30 despite taking 35 per cent more floor space than on its previous visit.

The free-to-attend show for designers, engineers, manufacturers, distributors, repairers and hirers of all types of lifting equipment will be a mix of exhibition stands and presentations as well as a networking drinks reception at the end of the first day.

Geoff Holden, chief executive of show organisers the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA), said this was an important exhibition to bring together those involved in overhead lifting and heights for safe working.

He said: “From small beginnings, LiftEx has become bigger and better every year.

“Last year’s show attracted 500 people from throughout the industry and we are confident of increasing the figure at the Ricoh Arena.

“The two-day show gives everyone within the industry the chance to talk to over 70 exhibitors who are working in health and safety, training, plant engineering and maintenance as well as the construction and offshore industries.

“This year we have introduced the Innovation Theatre where speakers will give presentations on a range of topics related to safer and more efficient overhead lifting as well as the opportunity to launch new products.

“It is an industry that is growing which is reflected in the membership of the LEEA which is made up of 80 per cent of members from the UK and the remainder from overseas.

“Visitors will be travelling from China, America and Saudi Arabia as well as throughout the UK to attend the two-day show which we are confident will be our best yet.”

Chris Owen, event manager at the Ricoh Arena, said this was a niche show which was growing annually.

“This is the eighth successive LiftEx exhibition as everyone connected with the lifting industry wants to ensure the highest standards of safety are met,” he said.

“Organisers have chosen to return to the Ricoh Arena because of our fantastic location and the fact there is plenty of parking within a few minutes of the main entrance as well as our flexible exhibition space.”
