Movember Campaign
A group of senior staff at the Ricoh Arena have got all lippy in the name of charity.
Chief executive Daniel Gidney, facilities director Anthony Mundy and finance director John Street have gone through a hairy month to raise awareness for prostate and testicular cancer.
They have all taken part in the national campaign Movember by growing moustaches during the month and raised more than £4,000 for the charity.
They challenged their colleagues, friends and family to join the campaign by raising £1,000 which was then matched by Arena Coventry Limited, which runs and manages the Ricoh Arena.
But they doubled their original target and money is still coming in.
Daniel said: “To be honest, the money appeared quicker than the moustaches in most cases!
“It has been great fun but I have to say I am not sad to the shedding my tache. I have a suspicion some of my colleagues have become rather attached to theirs.
“As luck would have it, with just a couple of days to go I had to do a television interview so while it raised awareness I have had considerable stick from a wider audience but we have had great support and people have been very generous
“The campaign has really taken off this year and it has done a superb job in raising awareness of what has up until now been a silent killer.”
