Olympic Countdown!

We are now only days away from hosting the world’s largest sporting spectacle!

Preparations have been taking place behind the scenes for many months to transform the Ricoh Arena into the City of Coventry Stadium to host 12 Olympic Football matches over eight days.

We will be the first English city to host an Olympic event as part of London 2012 – two days ahead of the Opening Ceremony – when we kick-off with a double-header between Japan and Canada followed by Sweden against South Africa on Wednesday (July 25).

Sponsorship boards have been covered up internally and externally to comply with the guidelines set by the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) so there is a whole different look and feel to the venue.

New pink and purple branding has been put in place to welcome thousands and thousands of visitors from all over the globe to the venue.

Menus have been prepared for around 3,000 corporate hospitality guests and 11,000 volunteers who will be on duty on match days.

The meat and vegetables have been sourced wherever possible from Red Tractor farms to ensure quality standards in every stage of the food chain for all the menus while all the waste will be 100 per cent recycled and will be taken away on a daily basis.

We are embarking on the most exciting and memorable chapter in our seven-year history – and we know the next few weeks are going to be extremely special as we play our part in the 2012 Olympic Games!
