Team GB will be aiming to seal their place in the semi-finals of the Olympic Games when they play at the City of Coventry Stadium on Friday. (August 3)

Women's Quarter Final Announcement!

Hope Powell’s team finished top of Group E after winning 1-0 against double Olympic Games silver medallists Brazil at Wembley Stadium.

The result means Team GB – playing in their first Olympic Games Football Tournament – are now preparing for their quarter-final tie which will kick-off in Coventry at 7.30pm.

Their opponents will be Canada who secured a 2-2 draw against Sweden.

Tickets are now on sale for this eagerly-awaited game on Friday by heading to the box office in Car Park D at the City of Coventry Stadium.

Russell Chamberlain, LOCOG’s venue general manager for the City of Coventry Stadium, said the Olympic Games had been a fantastic opportunity to raise the profile of women’s football in Great Britain.

“Team GB was put together specifically for the Olympic Games and the team was proud to kick-off London 2012 when they overcame New Zealand 1-0,” he said.

“Left-back Steph Houghton has been in tremendous goalscoring form and the team has gone from strength to strength throughout the tournament under Hope Powell’s guidance.

“Friday’s quarter-final in Coventry is the perfect opportunity for Midlands football fans to come along and cheer on Team GB as Olympic fever spreads throughout the country.

“The team has received tremendous backing in their previous games at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium and at Wembley and I know the support will be just as vociferous here in Coventry.

“We are all really looking forward to staging the match and to continue the feel-good factor around the Olympic Games.

“Tickets can be bought using cash or Visa cards from the on-site ticket office in Car Park D.”

Tickets for the quarter-final start at £20 with £40 and £50 options available while youngsters aged 16 and under at July 27 will 'pay their age' for a ticket. Seniors aged 60 and over will be charged £16.

Tickets for the quarter-final are available from the ticket booth at the City of Coventry Stadium in Car Park D which will be open today (Wednesday) between 10am until after the double-header matches, tomorrow (Thursday) from 10am-6pm and on Friday from 10am.

Fans can also park on Car Park C to buy their tickets until 1pm today (Wednesday) and from 10am on Thursday and Friday before walking over the footbridge to buy tickets from the ticket office.

Spectators who have booked online are recommended to collect their tickets before Friday at the ticket office on Car Park D from the window marked collections while tickets for the game are also available to be bought from any other Olympic venue.
