Siyami Arslan is going to the match against Senegal and their unknown opponents from the Asian Confederation section on Monday, April 23 (kick-off 7.45pm) with his brother-in-law Philip Cooper.
The play-off match will determine which nation takes the last spot in the Football Tournament at London 2012.
Siyami brought along his wife, Paula, and their seven-month-old son Yasin, who all live in Hill Top, Nuneaton, to meet City of Coventry Stadium Chief Executive Daniel Gidney and Tom Clift from Coventry City Council as well as receive his tickets.
“I was born in Turkey and I like football. I have been to three matches here before – Coventry City’s cup games against Chelsea and Blackburn, when Turkish international Tugay was playing for Rovers, and the England under-19 international against Macedonia,” he said.
“Phil is coming along with me. He is a Coventry City season ticket holder and a lifelong fan and we are both looking forward to the game.
“I enjoy watching games from the Premier League and Turkey on television and Yasin has already inherited that from me – he’s crazy about football and sits quietly watching the games.
“I remember watching Senegal play Turkey in the World Cup in 2002 when we won 1-0 and finished third overall in the tournament.
“I’m looking forward to watching the Olympic qualifier in Coventry. It is fantastic London 2012 will be on our doorstep.”
Daniel said the tickets were tremendous value for money as the build-up to London 2012 gains momentum.
He said: “This will be a vital match with the final place at stake for London 2012 qualification.
“We should know at the end of this month who Senegal will be playing once the final qualifying rounds in the Asian section have taken place.
“This is an occasion which all the family can come along to enjoy as well as seeing some potential internationals of the future at great value prices.”
