OLYMPIC football fans in Coventry and Warwickshire can now apply for tickets to attend one of the world’s greatest events.
The City of Coventry Stadium, home of Coventry City FC, will host a total of 12 men’s and women’s football matches during the London 2012 Olympic Games, kicking off with a double-header on July 25 of women’s football.
The only Midlands venue to stage Olympic events will also host the women’s bronze medal final.
The London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG) has already published the London 2012 Olympic Games Sports Competition Schedule detailing the date, time and venue of every one of more than 640 sessions across the 26 Olympic sports taking place throughout the UK.
The nationwide application process for around 8.8 million tickets was launched today (Tuesday, March 15) and will be open for six weeks to give people the chance to decide which events they would like to attend. Applications can be made at any time during this six weeks and it is not on a first come, first served basis.
After Tuesday, April 26, oversubscribed events will be decided through a ballot and LOCOG will inform people of which tickets they have been allocated in June 2011.
People can also apply for hospitality packages at the City of Coventry Stadium which have been divided into three categories.
Liz Cooper, marketing director at the City of Coventry Stadium, said there were a varied number of hospitality opportunities to enjoy this historic occasion in the Midlands.
“We will be hosting 12 great matches in eight days between July 25 and August 9 next year and there are some excellent value packages available,” she said.
“Hospitality package prices start from £30 per person. Tables for ten and private boxes are also available.
“We have set the prices at a competitive rate to give as many people as possible the chance to come along and be part of this wonderful, global occasion.
“Now’s the time to submit your request for tickets at www.tickets.london2012.com
