Wasps today announces the appointment of former Wasps’ captain and Rugby World Cup winner Lawrence Dallaglio OBE, MBE, to Wasps’ Board of Directors.

The British and Irish Lion, who won 85 caps for England, led Wasps to five Premiership titles, three League Cups and three European trophies during his 19 years at the club (1990 - 2008.)

Dallaglio, who is also an ambassador of the Rugby World Cup England 2015 and Land Rover globally, has recently been working with Wasps in his role with BBH Sport, advising on marketing campaigns during the move to the West Midlands. He also played a key role in delivering Wasps’ successful £35 million retail bond issue earlier this year.

Dallaglio, who will be inducted into the Premiership Rugby Hall of Fame this evening, Wednesday 2 September, said: “I am thrilled to have been asked to return to Wasps’ Board as a Non-Executive Director. Wasps has formed such a significant part of my life, having spent almost twenty years with the club.

“I have been extremely impressed by Derek Richardson’s vision and ambition for Wasps since he took over. The off-field transformation that he and Wasps’ new management team have created in such a short space of time has been incredible to watch.

“The ground-breaking move to The Ricoh Arena in the West Midlands was a necessary and bold decision, which is now paying dividends for the club, as you can see by attendances having tripled and hospitality having increased by 500%.

“The calibre of brands Wasps is now attracting also reflects the upward curve the club is following and we are extremely proud to be working with partners such as: Land Rover, EMC2 Under Armour, DS Smith, Pins & Stripes, Majestic Commercial, Purity Brewing Co and Taylor’s Port.

“It is a very exciting time to be involved with the club. I’m looking forward to being part of Wasps’ new era and helping to ensure Wasps’ off-field progress matches the progress that Dai Young’s squad will undoubtedly make on the field.

“Through the drive shown by Wasps’ management team, I am confident the club will re-establish itself as a force to be reckoned with in Europe.”
