Hundreds of jobs are being advertised to jobseekers across Coventry and Warwickshire at a major event that is set for a record number of visitors.
Up to 400 vacancies in the area will be advertised at the Coventry Jobs Fair when it arrives at Ricoh Arena on Wednesday 12 February between 10am and 1pm.
Around 600 job hunters are expected to descend on the venue in search of a new career opportunity, with vacancies ranging from traineeships and apprenticeships through to entry level and up to mid-level management.
Upwards of 25 companies from the retail, hospitality and public sectors will be attending, including Tesco, Birmingham Airport, Warwickshire County Council, West Midlands Combined Authority and West Midlands Police.
Coventry Jobs Fair is now in its seventh year and is making its Ricoh Arena debut after moving from Coventry city centre to meet increasing demand, with the three-hour session set to double its visitor numbers compared to five years ago.
Aaron Jones, Event Organiser for Coventry Jobs Fair, said: “Job seekers used to solely rely on the internet for finding a job, but now, as we’re seeing, more people are opting for job fairs to get their foot in the door where they can receive guidance and advice from employers directly.
“Our job fairs are bursting with activity at this time of year as it attracts those wanting a career change after a period of reflection at Christmas and New Year, as well as young people who are starting out on their career path.
“It’s also a window of opportunity for individuals to show off their employability – so my advice to those looking to land job interviews is to bring along your CV to hand out, and have the confidence to approach employers and speak to them about your skillset, ambitions and interests.
“The old adage of ‘first impressions count’ still rings true for some employers, so when it comes to deciding what to wear, and if circumstances allow, it’s advised to dress for the visit as you would for a job interview – it’s a win-win approach, as you’re likely to make a good impression and it’s good practice for a job interview!
“We don’t get to see the majority of specific job vacancies until the day itself but there are always a wide variety of roles on offer – which will this year include the chance of managing a pub - so if you’re plotting a career change, this is the place for you.”
Entry is free on the day, and more information can be found by visiting www.thejobfairs.co.uk
